| Q. |
How do I know if I'm suffering from hearing loss? |
| A. |
There are many signs that may indicate that you have a loss. They include: thinking everyone mumbles or speaks too quickly; having difficulty hearing words with sounds like "Sh", "Th", and "F"; having friends and family tell you that you have a loss; being told that you turn the television volume up too loud; having difficulty following conversations in crowds and in social situations; and having difficulty determining which direction sounds are coming from. If you have experienced one or more of these symptoms, come to Media Hearing Aid Center for a simple and painless audiometric test. |
| Q. |
What does a hearing test entail? |
| A. |
A basic audiogram is a painless test that measures your ability to hear pure tones and speech presented through headsets or earphones. Your response to these inputs show on a graph how much your hearing varies from normal and indicates where the problem might be located in the hearing pathway. |

What manufacturers of hearing aids do you recommend? |
| A. |
We work with most major manufacturers including GN Resound, Oticon, Phonak, Rexton, and Widex. We choose the most appropriate product based upon your specific hearing loss, lifestyle, and budget. |
| Q. |
Why do you recommend using two aids? |
| A. |
Imagine if all you could do to correct your vision was to use a monocle. Hearing with one ear is similar to seeing through one eye - you are effectively only hearing half of the sounds around you. In fact, if you have hearing loss in both ears and only aid one ear, your brain and ear disconnect and your brain loses the ability to process and seperate sound information. That's why it's important to hear in stereo - with both ears - to enable you to process sound more confortably, determine the direction that sounds are coming from, and to filter out background noise. |
